hello blog!

it's been ages since i last updated my blog. i missed blogging and sharing my work but as they say, life happens. i've been so busy with work that i had to really prioritize. remember, i need a source of funds for my scrapbooking! lol!

so, what have i been up to the past weeks...
- finished layouts for my march dt assignment for a walk down memory lane
- finished assignments for journaling junkie and the pretty committee
- created a mini album for cloe who just recently resigned
- prepared for the tvc production for our client
- finished a few things here and there for the family and for our house

there's still much to do for work considering the upcoming long holiday. but i am slowly coping and hopefully can get back to the groove of things by next week. whew!

again, hello and i am back. lol!

by the way, it's nelo's birthday tomorrow. no big celebration or anything. simple lunch with family. i'll cook carbonara and some baby potatoes tomorrow. we'll just order the chicken to match the pasta. hmm, i think my mom will also cook pochero. oh no, i forgot to tell her to prepare sago & gulaman too. I better remind her tonight.

before i leave, i'd like to share with you a layout i did for the pretty committee. this is for the march challenge. topic was to create an all green layout and about how lucky we are. have a great weekend everyone!

materials used:

time to conquer change

this is my layout for the february challenge at the pretty committee. the theme is "time for change." join in and you might get a chance to win some goodies from paper trail studio.

i decided to scrap about my weight issues with myself. as you can see in the photos, that is my weight progression since 2004. i wasn't really thin in 2004 but i definitely lost a lot of weight then. but sadly, i gained them all back, and more, over the course of years. hopefully, scrapping about it will make me commit more to a better me in 2009.
Journal:
I've gained so much weight over the past years. I admit I lost control, I lost the drive to keep the weight off. Life just took over. It was easier to put off going to the gym than making a conscious effort to lose it. I've actually done it before, lose the weight that is. This year I vow to lose it once more. I know I can do this. I must drive myself to believe that I can and I will. One step at a time. I will conquer this. (Feb '09)

naughty + nice

the 1st challenge for december is up at the pretty committee.

the challenge was to complete the phrase "all i want for christmas is..." well, there are lots of things i would want for christmas. on top of the list is a new home, which i already got, thankfully. so, i decided to scrap about the next on my list -- a nikon d60 dslr!

i forgot to share here that we lost our precious sony cybershot last november 9. we left it in the car (as i've done a few times in the past) and i decided to get it the following day already, november 10. it wasn't there anymore! nelo couldn't remember if he forgot to lock the car or what the day before.

i actually cried that night. you see, that camera has been with us since 2004, a gift from my sil. it has served us well for the past 4 years. lots of precious memories captured by that camera. but more than that, my sadness was also due to the fact that my little angel's hospital band was kept in the memory card case, which was also in the camera bag.

nelo said, maybe it's a way of telling us to let go already. that hospital band was the only physical item left with us of that difficult time in our life. i don't know... maybe what nelo said is true... still...

so now, i don't have a camera. it's one thing i really must have and i have to have one soon. i don't want a point-and-shoot camera anymore. the price of one is almost half the cost of a dslr and i might as well save up a bit more so i can already upgrade. just a few more days probably and i'll have what i want.

so here's the layout i created...
journal: dear santa, have i been naughty + nice? i hope i deserve that d60 nikon camera i've been wanting the whole year. it will be one of my christmas best gifts ever.

materials used: patterned paper - ki memories; chipboard - my scrapworks; alphas - making memories; journali die-cut - mme; pen - uniball signo

pretty in pink

at least i was able to go home for the weekend. it was such a long travel to isabela and then back to manila. it was a 12-hour land trip which i don't think i'll repeat anytime soon.

there's a lot of scrapbooking backlog waiting for me. but they have to wait for now. i'll be off again tomorrow until the end of the week. i will be in la carlota, negros and then gen. santos city. travel will be via plane this time. thank goodness for that!

i'll leave you with a layout i did for the october challenge at the pretty committee. the november challenge is now up and i also have a layout there. do check it out and join in the fun challenge.

journal:
You really look great in that color. It makes you look radiant. Your smile and that glow in your eyes tell it all. You are beautiful, always believe in that. It’s not about the weight or how you look. It’s all about your own attitude. Affirm yourself, the charm that you have. You are pretty!

timeless beauty

the first challenge is up at the pretty committee.

we had to create a layout about someone who belongs to "our pretty committee." i knew immediately who i'll feature in the layout. i'm sure she'll love this once she sees it.

by the way, do join in on the 1st pretty committee challenge. submissions are open until the 25th of september. check out the full details and the works of the other dt members here.

hidden journal:
Mama, you are my pretty committee! You are my biggest influence, the one who have cheered me on and supported me always. In all my life decisions, I have considered your opinion. It matters to me what you will have to say, you provide me the perspective I need as I face life’s challenges.

But more than that, I also admire your confidence in yourself. You have the grace and style of a real woman. As I was growing up, I adore how you would pretty up yourself regardless if there will be an occasion or not. And you’ve maintained it even up to this point. You are still as beautiful and elegant even as you have matured.

When I reach your age, I hope I can be like you. I hope I can look as fabulous as well and be able to carry myself as you have done all these years.

Truly, your beauty, inside and out, is timeless.
