water babies

i joined an online crop around 1st week of september and was happy to have created 3 layouts over that weekend. i've been struggling for some scrapbooking time and every chance possible, i have to maximize it. 

these photos were of my friends and our kids when we went on a swimming get together in a hotel. it was fun seeing these kids enjoy the water. my nikko definitely had fun in the pool!

too cute to spook

well hello blog! it's been ages yet again since you've been updated.  no excuses really. just life taking priority above everything else.

and life would of course be my little boy who's not so little anymore.  he's growing up way fast and since i'm  a working mom, as soon as i get home, i make sure i spend my time with him.

no regrets there. though i'm a self-confessed scrapbook addict, it had to take a backseat.  moving on!

october 31, or halloween, as we more fondly call it will be up in 2 weeks time. there are some halloween parties we've lined-up for and my little boy is all set to attend them, costume and all.

but before that happens, i'd like to share with you a halloween layout i made from last year's trick or treat. nikko was dressed-up as "superman" and he is just so cute in it. there are still a lot of photos from that event but this one will have to do for now.

smile (scrapbook laureat)

when i attended last year's scrapbook laureat of studio azul, they had our photos taken and we can have it printed on the spot. we can then choose to join their on site challenge of scrapping those photos. well, slow scrapper that i am, i never was able to create that layout.

well a few months ago, i was finally able to scrapbook that photo. we were together as a group in our table - arlene, april, me and peachy. i used the leftovers from the scrapbook laureat to create this layout. the only additonal materials from my stash were the background paper, lace, die-cuts for the title and the notecard.

it was a fun event, and i'm sure i'll attend again if there's ever another one in the future.

you are my true cousin

this layout was published online last month over at scrapsteet.com. it was for their "technique turn" article which featured misting. i finished this layout using leftover stuff from studio azul's scrapbook laureat.  

nikko was 12 weeks old and aly was 5y.o when i took this photo. nikko looks way different now compared to this photo. it was aly who said that, that nikko was her "true cousin." she actually meant, first cousins. but she said it with such endearment that who can contest it!

first month

just a year ago, i gave birth to a 7.8lbs baby boy.

it was the fulfillment of a dream. he was so little and so fragile then.

a year after, he has now grown bigger. he already weighs almost 11 kilos.

life has definitely changed for us since his birth.

here is nikko when we celebrated his first month birthday.

and look at him now during his 1st year celebration.

mixed media class with iris uy

i've been off again from blogging. so what's new with that?! lol!

i never realized it will be such a challenge to juggle my time between family (especially with a baby that always clings to you, which i don't mind at all!), work and scrapping.  i had to temporarily give up on scrapping if i want to maintain a "balanced" life, for now.

but it doesn't mean i don't go off scrapping when i can! that's why i took a mixed media class by iris uy over at lasting impression last march 24. we created 3 projects: an altered artist's tray, a layout and an art journal.  the class was very interesting, as expected from an iris uy class. we got our hands dirty using gesso, paint, distress stains, embossing powders and a few other artsy stuff.  we used papers from my mind's eye, some die-cuts, canvass and a few resins. 

here's what we created:

we used strips of leftover paper from the artists tray project on this layout.

used the leftover watercolor paper, distress stains and stamping

meet & greet santa

the third layout i created using these supplies.  i love the simplicity of this page. it was fun that i was able to stretch out the papers i have from that kit. and i got to use the snowman sticker even without snow! lol!

sunday mass

this is my second layout based on the kit contents from the scraproom i've posted here.

love the design of the sheet and i just had to add a few accents here and there to highlight my photo.

it's a simple layout but i love how it turned out.  this is another layout i can include to nikko's firsts.

just like today

during the weekend, i felt mr. scrappy mojo's presence and i was lucky enough to have finished 3 layouts the past week.  that's an achievement for me to say the least.

my friend arlene and i have subscribed to the monthly kits at the scraproom. i have 3 months worth of kit already but this is the first time i'm able to actually use the kit for my layouts. 

i used part of the january kit consisting of the following items:

2pcs. - cardstock

1 pc.  - life snippets (simple stories) double sided pp

1 pc.  - live life (simple stories) double sided pp

1 pc.  - everyday life (simple stories) double sided pp

1 set  - year.o.graphy 12x12 fundamental cardstock stickers

this is the first layout i finished and i used their january sketch. 

photos are of dad and nikko when he was 3months old. my dad adores nikko to the max! and his day starts and end with him carrying nikko for a few minutes. love them together!
